The beach of Katwijk aan Zee
The main attraction of the seaside resort Katwijk aan Zee is of course the beach and the sea.
Katwijk has an approximately two kilometer long promenade with various facilities. On the more than four kilometers long sandy beach you will find many beach pavilions during the summer season (from March to October). Katwijk has a lively marina with an open connection to numerous water sport areas in the region and beyond. In the ‘Zeezijde’ shopping center behind the Boulevard, shopping is good and there is also a cozy tourist market every Tuesday in the summer.
The beaches of Katwijk have been awarded several times. In 2018 the beach received the international Blue Flag environmental award for the 11th time. It guarantees excellent bathing water and a well-kept beach. In 2017 Katwijk again received the ‘Quality Coast Award’ for the high quality of people- and nature-friendly tourism.
The beaches are cleaned up in summer every day. Moreover, the rescue brigade keeps an eye on everything and warns against dangerous wind and current; a nice and safe feeling.
